Great atmosphere, both at the level of the talk lesson and the restaurants. our server was friendly and attentive. our Tom-Yum lacked the protein, but it was immediately brought as soon as problem was marked. good piece sizes and cheap prices.
While the server provided the water, she continued to rush us through the rest of our meal, well before the end of our two-hour reservation. When my partner’s father went to pay, the server—a white woman—looked at the payment screen and began to lecture him on how it was rude not to tip adequately for the meal. I couldn't believe that a member of an all-white staff at an Asian restaurant would lecture an Asian man about his tipping habits. He reiterated that he had not enjoyed his meal at all and expressed his dissatisfaction. The server did not make any effort to rectify the situation, such as offering a replacement dish or complimentary dessert or drinks. Instead, she rushed us out and seemed to disregard our experience entirely. It was shocking to witness her condescending attitude towards Asian customers in an Asian restaurant. She continued her inappropriate comments about the tip, labeling it as "rude behavior." At that point, I had to intervene and explain the racial dynamics of her remarks. Did she really think an elderly Asian man didn’t know how to assess his pho? Was she trying to teach him a lesson because she viewed him as an outsider? This attitude was not only offensive but blatantly racist from the start. It’s a disgrace that this restaurant employs an all-white staff that behaves this way, effectively alienating their Asian customers. The gentrification of Vietnamese cuisine is evident, with dishes costing $23, lacking in flavor, and their servers disrespecting Asian clientele. All my partner's father wanted was to make his pho more palatable. I left feeling completely disgusted and would not recommend giving this restaurant your business. There are definitely better Vietnamese options in Cote-des-Neiges.
It took fifteen minutes for the server to greet us after we were seated. The Pad Thai was excessively salty and lacked the typical flavors one would expect. I was puzzled by the addition of tuna to the pho—was that a new twist? Am I just unsophisticated? If the Pad Thai is going to be that salty, why do they serve water in 6 oz glasses and only refill them twice during our visit? Many people may wonder this. On a positive note, the interior of the restaurant is beautiful.
Nestled in the Old Port, Hà boasts beautiful decor and a cozy ambiance. We visited as a group of four for a double date, and Hà turned out to be an ideal spot with its romantic vibe. We sampled a few of their signature drinks, which were delightful and refreshing! For food, we tried the crab chips, which were crunchy and very enjoyable, along with the shrimp and chicken Pad Thai. The portion was generous, and the dish was both delicious and flavorful. The service was excellent for a Thursday night. Overall, I highly recommend this place!
