It is a small place so reserve. Oh, by the way you are served by one of the owners and left alone to enjoy your evening.
26th wedding anniversary falling on the same day as my daughter toured McGill. Love this place. First it is located up the mountain and a $12 uber ride from downtown Montreal in an area known as the plateau. BYOB with no cork fee. Bring two bottles of wine for three people. The entire five course experience will take two hours. Amazing food. You can see from the pictures we had oysters, smoked salmon, foie gras, pepper steak, duck and creme brûlée and coffee. The bill was $200. Huge saving bringing your own wine. Chef is young and AMAZING as all are the wait staff. My new favourite in Montreal.
We found this restaurant as a pure coincidence taking a walk in the Montreal Mile-End.Relatively small place but it allows the server and the Chef to provide an exceptionnal service.Food was delicious and the ambiance very friendly. Open in 1985, this place deserves to be experienced.
Love this place. Tiny. Maybe 9 tables. IN a frickin house, just off the Mt Royal plateau entertainment district ( not the mountain). Only two seatings a night, like 7 and 930 PM. So, you have to get a reservation. No liqour license. NO problem. Here's your plan ( no need to reinvent the wheel). Make your reservation, preferably the later seating. Go down to Mt Royal and St Lauren or so and enjoy happy hour on a nice terrace, wander a bit, don't eat. Pick up some wine at the SAQ ( a bottle per body) and proceed to the bistro. No corkage fee. Order the 5 course set menu ( you have options within). Enjoy! The Apple Brandy Sorbet is delightful. I have had sweet breads there, antelope, bison, Kangaroo, Fois gras. All fantastic. There's like one waiter and two guys in the kitchen. They speak French and English. No problems. Trust me.
Dinner this evening at Bistro L’Entrepont was outstanding. We opted for the lighter à la carte menu option (soup de jour + a main dish + coffee). The more expensive table d’hote was tempting, but would have been too much for my wife and me. The soup was a light and flavourful pure of vegetables, served piping hot – terrific. My wife’s Bison flank steak was sautéd to perfection, and napped in a very tasty wine sauce. My lamb cutlets (6 of them) were grilled to just the right doneness, and draped in a brilliant sauce bordelaise. Both plates included a tasty scalloped potato dish, plus a shredded red cabbage dish that was an excellent compliment to the lamb.Bistro L’Entrepont is a Bring-Your-Own-Wine place – a nice touch since the mark up on restaurant wine is fierce. A bottle that cost $20 retail would have been $70 is a restaurant… And there is no corkage fee – just great. We have been coming to Bistro L’Entrepont on and off for many years – the food is amongst the best in a city that eats well. We will certainly return – and encourage you to visit. Bring a good wine – the food deserves it.The only complaint – the seats in the window alcoves are very tight. Better choose one of the regular tables.
