Bar Le Senateur - Montréal

The food was good for a hotel restaurant, but like most hotel restaurants a little pricey. Staff seemed a little scattered though. May have just been an off day.

The waiters and waitresses were friendly and helpful. I ordered the salad on their menu. It was clearly stated on the menu that the salad came with some avocado. When the waiter delivered the salad to our table, I noticed that there was no avocado. I asked the waiter why. He went into the kitchen, came back, and reported back to me saying "avocados in the kitchen are not ripe enough." He brought me squeezed out mushy guacamole to add to my salad later on. We are paying for the menu on the item and I would have appreciated if they could cross out the avocado off their ingredients or if the waiter could tell me that they do not have avocado when I ordered the salad. I felt ripped off and unsatisfied when we were paying for the full meal at this nice hotel restaurant. The bar side looked nice, but the other dining area looked like it was half closed. I felt like I was eating dinner in a conference room. It was more disappointing as there was no other place to go around this hotel.

The Restaurant Samuel de Champlain is brilliant for breakfast and also for dinner. The staff are lovely too.

We had just arrived at the Marriott Montreal Chateau Champlain and it was cold and rainy, so we ate here at the hotel restaurant. The food wasn't bad, I.e., about average - not fantastic. There was only one waitress for the whole place and she took her sweet time serving us. My wife and I had the grilled salmon, which is hard to screw up. The butternut squash soup was tasty as was the chocolate cake for dessert. We made a point of going elsewhere for the remainder of our 5 day stay.

The bar and restaurant are lovely, a great setting to relax, the staff is helpful and friendly. However, the food is just about average. For me, it was a bit below. Our dishes were oily and bland. The prices way to high for what you get. Best to go to nearby and enjoy something better.
