Got some empanadas (chicken and ground beef) for take out and they were very good. The salsa criolla is also very good.
There are not so much empanada restaurants in Montpellier, but Che bolude is my favorite one due to the variety and quality of the empanadas. the location is a bit cheap, but the return for money is good.
We ate here on our first proper night in Montpellier and am so glad we did so we can return later in the week. The empanadas were just delicious, as were the starters - the cheese and honey was really nice, especially with the lovely fresh salsa and chimichurri (I've never had chimichurri before but it's a very garlicky pesto like sauce which is full of flavour - I couldn't get enough of it!!) we then had the dessert empanadas which were again fantastic. To top it off, our waiter was exceptionally kind and helpful, really lovely to chat to and happy to explain the menu to us, noting we didn't speak much french and easily slipping into really good English instead. We really did feel welcome which was really nice - can be somewhat rare in France if your french isn't very good!! I'd honestly reccommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner or even just a snack - I think they also will do takeaway. Just a wonderful place. Muchos gracias!
My husband and I ate here last night, on our last evening in Montpellier. What a great little restaurant. Bummer that we are leaving as I'd like to try all their menu. We had a small salad each with a few empanadas, beer and wine. The salad was fresh with lots of tasty vegetables. It seemed like they have a garden out back. The empanadas were delicious to say the least! I had a beef and then a chicken one. My husband went for 3 others. He also had the banana empanada for dessert. I had a bite: delicious! The chef obviously knows what they're doing! Wow! Thanks to the friendly and helpful waiters too! Great place, I highly recommend this restaurant that didn't break the bank.
