Whether you be a king or a queen, a pauper or a prince it is hard to fined excellence in a restaurant so far off the beaten track and i found excellence in this hidden jewel. I have rarely had the total foody experience as i strongly believe that we need the whole package when we dine out whether we are just eating bread and onions or a full course meal we have to have it all, the taste, the product, the service and the atmosphere and location well this beautiful restaurant has it all........ We found it via trip advisor and i was a little sceptical as the location is not new to us we lived near this place when we were younger and just could not recollect anything of this calibre to be available to foodies like ourselves. We entered the restaurant and were taken aback by the views they were stunning, it was like we were balanced on the edge of a rural paradise The waiter straight away bought us a champagne flute of local prosecco with a plate of finger food rolled parma ham and mini pizzas of various ingredients the bread basket was made up of soft breads and crackers, even made from coal flour We asked for the house wine local Aglianco and water immediately served The anti pasto or starter was ordered for one but we ate it in 3 how anyone could possibly eat all of what they bought singly is nearing miraculous It was made up of a carvery of boar sausage, boar ham, parma ham, salami, local cold cuts and a huge plate of mini flat breads and various quiches, potatoe tasters and then a beautiful arrary of hot and cold cheese vegetables grilled but still crisp and quite honestly anything else would have made of the starter a full meal. My husband ordered a plate of pasta made with caramellized onions from montoro, as he left us to devour the starter dishes and the waiter made sure that the pasta and the seperate carvers of finger food came to the table at the same time My daughter and my husband opted for the Tagliata as their main two perfectly cooked sliced steaks on a bed of porcini mushrooms and onions, with salad and the waiter also bought to the table free or ordering and also of charge a treble portion of roasted rosemary potatoes i ordered a drunken fillet of beef in aglianco topped with crisp parma ham and sided with fresh leaves and onions the flavours, the presentation and the quality of the product were so good i have travelled in first class at times and have been all over the world but this was something really special to see and danced on your taste buds so delicous and so elegant. We were offered coffee liquors and then we asked for the bill What a great end to a great meal 3 covers 6 euros 1 selection of starters 12 euros but enough for 3 people one plate of house speciality pasta 6 euros two sliced filets with sides and my drunken in wine double filet 30 euros wine and water, coffee and liquors total 70 euros less that 25 euros a head i could not believe the quality and the quantity, the service, the location and the style just too good for words so as i have said, this place offers food fit for any king or queen but at a price that a pauper would be able to afford treat yourselves to a great meal a lovely day out and a fantastic dining experience. Thank you all at the Tenuta del Re Rita and Gennaro, Avellino.
