Chez Fany - Montignac

Charming and friendly ,had a lovely meal with great relaxed atmosphere situated over the pretty square by the church.

Came to the festival, found a table but no one came to use for over 20 minutes . I went and got a menu and asked if we could get served and they said they would come to us. 10 minutes later not even eye contact so we got up and left!

Fantastic! Hidden away from the main canal front but right next to the church. Very friendly, lovely owner. Home made punch for starters. The best entrecôte I've eaten for a long time! And the nicest service we had in Montignac.

The food was ok but we ordered a kid menu, well done beef with pommes frites. We got a full porsion and beef medium done. The beef was like chewing gum. We told the waiter and he apoligized for it. When we should pay we had to pay full prize for the beef, so we payed more for the kid menu than for two porsions with saøad for adult.

Having decided upon Chez Fany for lunch in Montignac(unfortunately before reading any previous reviews), we were seated at a pleasant table on the edge of the seating area, which having a toddler and another child, suited us fine. 5-10 mins later a waiter offered us menus. At least 10 mins later he returned and took our orders, which on a busy lunchtime we accepted as run of the mill. We were then sat there for 30 mins without any drinks never mind food, anyone with children will understand that by this point patience was starting to wear thin especially in the heat. Upon going inside the restaurant to enquire where our drinks were and how long food would take I tried to speak to the waiter and waitress. Their attitude was immediately confrontational and the waitress said "no" followed by "another restaurant." She repeated this a couple if times in a very curt way and was obviously telling us to go elsewhere. I was taken aback considering i was holding a one year old child and was merely wanting to find out when we would receive our drinks and meal. Not an unreasonable request. I suspect that considering it was getting close to their closing time of 2pm they had no intention of serving us. I am only speculating on this though. There's no way I would recommend this restaurant.
