The menu was very similar to others in the area. The service was very slow, the waitress was rude. We asked for some olive oil for our bread, and was told to wait. She had to clear an empty table (when there was no one waiting for it) and disappear for several minutes before we finally got olive oil. The zucchini side we ordered was mushy, and the veal dishes were tough. Yes, it was home cooking, but just not a special meal like you hope to enjoy in Italy.
So when you first walk into this place, you'll think you made a wrong turn back into the 80s with it's pink interior and dated decor. Ignore all of that. What you have to understand is that you are going to get fed by your Nonna from Montepulciano, that's she's going to know what you want and that by the end, you'll wish she really was your Nonna. Low on choice, high on quality and the best tiramisu of the week by a long, long way. We ended up here by accident, we'll be back again not least because it's also super-cheap. Eat well and remember to say grazie on the way out (as you pay cash...
I have the chance to travel to Montepulciano quite often and this little restaurant is always one of my must . The place is quite small and very family like .The menu changes every day, maybe it does not offer the choice of bigger places in the area and at a first glance it must not appear as smart as others but you will definitely eat simple genuine homemade food prepared by Marcella, the owner, from the first course to the dessert. If you have the chance to go there do not miss to taste her handmade Pici , the typical pasta of this part of Italy, she makes them on her own and cooks them with bread crumbs, meat sauce and my favourit all aglione i.e. fresh tomato and garlic sauce... The prices are in a normal range. I do recommend this place, maybe you will have to wait a bit between one course and the other since the lady runs the place and cooks on her own, but you will not regret it !!!
