Eravamo di passaggio e in visita al castello e al santuario . Ci siamo trovati sull'ora di pranzo in paese e , dDmopo aver visto locali pretenziosi e con prezzi alti, abbiamo optato per euesta trattoria semplice, cucina casalinga, con offerta di menù a prezzi contenuti. Cucina locale, casalinga, come pranzare a casa; camerieri gentili, non sorridenti ma senz'altro preferibili a sorrisi falsi e di circostanza. Consigliato per veloce pranzo e buon rapporto qualità/prezzo

A crowded day in Mont Sant'Angelo. We had to wait at the parking lot gate for a space to open it, and as we walked to the Church of San Michele, all the restaurants were either closed or full. We visited the church and then the baptistry, and between them is La Caravella. No tourists there. Only Italian families. No credit cards--only cash. The tunnel-like entry rich with local culture. The food is hearty and the local wine is robustly red. I ordered the orecchiette with marinara sauce. My carnivore husband had the mixed grilled of sausage, lamb, and pork. We share a plate of the local spaghetti (thicker than other spaghetti--almost a scialatelli) and a liter of wine. The food was fresh, delicious, and well priced.  The service was fast and efficient. We were a group of motorcyclists passing through and stumbled upon this restaurant. We took the tourist menu for 20 euros plus a few extras and we ate very well, home-made cuisine without too many frills and the staff was friendly and helpful.
