Villa Del Mare - MONTALTO DI CASTRO

Posto bellissimo: una cornice selvaggia perfetta per un glam locale trattato in ogni dettaglio. proprietario e personale estremamente accogliente. dagli antipasti, super consigliato, friggere un mosto! ideale per chi cerca benessere e riservatezza.

It was good few years ago…now it’s a terrible experience. The fish is not fresh and it’s badly cooked. The service is terrible and rude. We wanted to pay with credit card and the guy was disappointed. It’s a shame as the location is really nice.

We tried to book via the booking service offered on the web page of the restaurant. No answer received within after two days. So we called and got a table for the evening of 7th Agust 2017. Fantastic location, directly at the sea. A lot of mosquitos that evening. Some fans would have mitigsted that problem significantly. But back to the most import aspect: the food. We had the Fantasia Villa del Mare as antipasti, which was delicious, also the spaghetti alle vongole and al pomodoro tasted good, but the pasta was unfortunately very, very al dente . The orata al forno , which we had as main course, was really good, cooked to the point. As wine we took the Chardonny (wine list was not very exhaustive), which was not a top one but ok for 16€. Service was good and attentive. Bottom line 134€ for 4 persons including sorbetto al limone and one grappa was fair and ok!

Despite the wind on the beach the restaurant was well sheltered and we sat almost on the sand with a lovely view. The food was excellent: the calamare were very fresh and not chewy, always a sign of good cooking. The service was prompt and friendly. We treated a friend for her birthday and she was very pleased with the food and the setting The cold fizzy white house wine was perfect
