Their coffee is nice and not of the instant variety. It is closed during the winter period and normally opens around early April. There are some great walks from the cafe to suit children, adults and dogs. Don’t miss this little gem if you are visiting Tintern.
Too small but what else do you expectif you are interested in. Trains or any thing to do with railways this is a must
I've been here many times on the motorbike and in the car with family. I really enjoy the scenery and it's always a nice atmosphere especially when the sun is shining. The food, coffee and cake I've had there has always been nice. I'll be up for a visit again soon and I'm hoping they are still serving the ploughman's lunch.
We were looking for a quick coffee stop on our way to Tintern Abbey and found this charming little café at the train station. While the station itself is a nice spot for those interested in historical sites, we were put off by the £2 parking charge, which was required even for a quick visit to the café. However, we decided to stay and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and delicious coffee. The views from the café were also quite lovely, and there were plenty of tables available. It's a shame that there isn't an option to reduce the parking charge with a purchase. Overall, we enjoyed our visit but probably won't be returning due to the parking issue.
Nice setting, you pay a minimum of £2 to park, which is fine if you have kids who want to run around and play, or you are happy to stroll around the site and are interested in the railway history. The actual cafe is disappointing. For a start you can only pay by card, which you only find out from a sign at the door. The old station building has been depressingly 'converted ' and is chilly, draughty, ill lit, incredibly dull and joyless- a pity as it could be made much of and be far more welcoming. There is no sense whatever of the history of the building. We were there on a reasonably warm, fine day, so sitting outside was OK, wouldn 't have wanted to be there when it was cool/wet/windy. Coffee was OK and one member of staff was very helpful and pleasant. Had intended to have a snack but settled for Welsh cakes which were dry (stale?? . Won 't be bothering again, there are much better options in the area.
