Fish House - Monhegan Island

When I checked about GF meals at The Island Inn the information was that GF meals were also available at The Fish House. There are days that I shave difficulty walking but we thought it would be worth while to walk to a restaurant for a meal. Turned out to be similar to a food truck. Nothing GF short of a steamed lobster. I had to walk all the way back to The Barnacle (missed the turn due to no signage) to get something GF there.

Food- always The Best! not cheap, but its absolutely delicous! Why wouldn't be higher priced all the way out to sea? The fish sammy is a little addictive! Lobsters by the pound! YES!! Never fails! Best anywhere! Steam them yourself if you can in Monhegan sea water with a little seaweed, potatoes and corn. Ambiance- No place I'd rather be than a picnic table by the sea. Service- efficient and able to survive a busy season. See ya next year!

A perfect little eatery on the island. Great menu, efficient staff, and a cozy little spot on a small beach to eat and meet other travelers. Some of the absolute best lobster bisque I've ever had!

Pricey, as is everything on the island, but the food overall is quite good. We had fish tacos, shrimp tacos, lobster, and a lobster roll across two visits and they were all very good. Wait can be a little long at times, but nothing too unreasonable. Staff was helpful and hospitable. Would recommend stopping in for sure. Atmosphere is rustic but nice views of the harbor on the picnic tables and chairs.
