My family visited Boston Pizza this past weekend and we decided to split nachos between three of us. There was a choice of “Serves 3” and “Serves 5”. We opted for the larger portion. But when the nachos came out, we had to ask if we were given the smaller option instead, because it was a very chintzy portion. The server (who was very nice) insisted that this was BP’s nachos for five people, which we were shocked by. We also pointed out that there was almost no beef at all, which he agreed with and went to get us extra beef to sprinkle on top. I really wish I had thought to take photos because words cannot accurately describe the ridiculous lack of beef. The nachos also came with a very small cup of salsa that would be sufficient for one diner, not three and certainly not five. We quickly needed more. As we ate the nachos (which were underwhelming in terms of flavour), I could see that there was no possible way this would be enough even for three, so I backed off and let my wife and son finish it. We were still hungry after this “nachos for 5” failed to satisfy three people, so we also ordered the garlic fries appetizer. The bill came and we were shocked to see a charge for the extra salsa. The serving it came with was perhaps 1/8th (at most) of a standard jar of salsa. How could this be the salsa portion for a serving of five?! The server removed the charge on that. To sum up: • The food taste was just okay. • The food portion was laughable. I guess this is BP’s version of “shrinkflation”. • The spoonful of beef meant we were paying nearly $22 for chips, cheese and some shredded greens. • The extra charge for salsa is an absolute joke. • The server was great I give him 4-stars only because I can’t help but still question if he wasn’t mistaken and gave us the “Serves 3” size. But other than that he provided 5-star service. We’ve been to Boston Pizza numerous times before and never before had any complaints.
