El Cazador - Missoula

Maybe it was an off night...but we have been looking for a place to make our go-to for Mexican food and had high hopes. Was not busy but the server was distracted and not helpful with our first-timer questions. I ended up with a dish I couldnt eat (after asking to order something sans tomatoes) still got tomato sauce. But by the time she came back to check everyone else was practically done with their dishes. Took it for a lunch for the hubby.The beans were pretty good, and I'd probably just order a bean chalupa if friends wanted to go here. The rest of the dishes ordered were just so-so. Meat was bland and rice dry. Maybe an off day? It would take some major convincing for me to go find out.

I ordered chicken enchilada platter and two soft shell beef tacos on the side. And a Pepsi to drink. First I got 2 hard shell tacos and no enchiladas and a Diet Pepsi. I told the waitress and then I got two beef enchiladas not chicken. So I said forget it because my husband was almost done. Then I finally get my tacos and I had lost my appetite. Still had to pay half price for the beef enchiladas so took them and my soft tacos. Not impressed at all

I ordered Mole Enchiladas for my partner and myself, but the tortillas were placed on the side for some reason. The chicken was extremely overcooked and almost inedible. Additionally, they automatically added an 18% gratuity to my to-go order without informing me, leading me to tip twice for subpar service. It was a hectic Friday, and I understand the challenges of working in a kitchen, but that doesn't justify the poor quality of the meal. I will not be ordering from this restaurant again until they improve their service.

Food service atmosphere.. top notch in my book.. four stars is the most I give any rating.. bc there’s always room for improvement.. that said—this place is my favorite in all of Missoula.. Scotty’s might be second.. el cazador—the hunter and spirit of Montana.. reminds me of growing up in SoCal.. reminds me of home.. I love this place.. ME ENCANTA!!!

I had a delicious combo plate off of their food truck at Caras Park. It was unbelievable how fast they were for such a crowd and the food was delicious to go eat by the river. Parking: I personally like to ride my bike to access the food trucks at Caras Park
