It was a good sign for me when we entered and noticed that we were the only foreigners amongst the Ethiopian and Somali customers. This usually indicates authenticity. The food was fantastic, even though they didn't have honey wine, the Ethiopian beer was delicious. The Kitfo, various styles of wot, and ayib were all flavorful and they were generous with the injera, which is often a concern at other restaurants.
When we arrived at Dilla, it wasn't too crowded. We were seated at a table by the window, where the friendly waitress provided me with recommendations. I have a slight aversion to spicy food, but I still enjoy it. I ordered the lamb curry and it was fantastic! The portion was so generous that I had to take some home in a box.
This is the best Ethiopian food I have had in years! I have been looking for a place like this since Addis Ababa closed down years ago. This restaurant is truly fantastic!
I am originally from Washington DC, where there are many Ethiopian restaurants to choose from. So, I was happy to discover one near my school. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed that all the Ethiopian and Somali diners turned to look at me and my wife, clearly identifying us as outsiders. This reassured me of the restaurant's authenticity. The food was excellent, although they were out of honey wine. However, the tasty Ethiopian beer made up for it. The kitfo, various wot dishes, and ayib were all delicious, and the portions were generous.
When we arrived at Dilla, the restaurant was not too crowded. We were seated at a booth by the window, and the waitress was very welcoming. She assisted me with menu recommendations, as I am a bit wary of spicy food but still enjoy it. I ultimately decided on the lamb curry, and it was delicious! The portion was so generous that I had to ask for a to-go box.
