Great service price and food. The serving sizes a big. And they do takeaway. Wednesday is budget night great to have a break from the kitchen
Ok it was "Family night" Wednesday night. I chose to have my birthday dinner at this tavern plus it was the first time my very elderly in-laws had, had the time to visit and try the food. However I did decide that this was going to be decision night as to whether I would ever go there again. It really doesn't matter if it is "Family night" or not, the tavern staff/management do not seem to care one little bit about the comfort of ALL dinners. Every time we have been here to have a nice dinner and, I must stress as much as I can that the food is exceptional, there have been kids of all ages running and playing chasing games in the main dining room. And on my birthday night a baby screeching at the top of her lungs, all the dinners winced every time she did. Why on earth can't the shift management look beyond the $'s and ask the parents to quieten the child, ignoring such behavior at home is one thing but not in public at the discomfort of others is not. The shift management should ask the parents to keep the children at the table and not allow them to wander and run around the other dinners. There is a outdoor dining area, maybe they can turn it into a child play area like at Hungry Jacks and McDonalds. I am a parent and grandparent and know that parents have the right to take their children out to dinner. However, I also have the right to go out to dinner and have a good time. I pay the same for my food as they do and have the right to expect that I will have a great meal in good company and not have other peoples children playing around my table, standing at my table looking at us, listening to children treating the room like a school playground, babies screeching. My in-laws first and last visit has left them with a bad impression. They have just moved into the local area and will prefer to drive to the Gatton RSL than come back here which is only 5 minutes down the road.My birthday dinner was a disaster, 5 people sitting at one table couldn't have a conversation, you just couldn't hear each other. I won't go back. The staff's ability to maintain order is dismal. The food is excellent and good value for money. The rustic decor is perfect and should be seen (the hand painted rustic antique hand saws are awesome to study and admire).
Drove from the Gold Coast to Hatton Vale in the scenic rim to check out this gem. Had a great lunch.Hubby started with 1/2 doz oysters mornay, they were a meal in themselves. Then he followed up with the 400gm Wagyu steak. Cooked to perfection melt in your mouth. I settled on the pan fried chicken breast with prawns in a white wine, chilli lime dressing. Very tasty and refreshing. Both meals were served with a very nice green salad and chips. Because the wine was selected from the attached bottle shop the choice was slightly better (and cheaper) than your average pub. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Close to home, friendly staff, good quality food, pleasant atmosphere, ideal place to take adults and kids alike, reasonably priced.
