Shortly after placing our orders, our appetizers arrived. We started with Scotch eggs—four halves of sausage-wrapped, deep-fried eggs. These were incredible, boasting a rich flavor and perfect texture, accompanied by a delicious dipping sauce. For the main course, Andrea and Dexter shared a chicken, potato, and corn bowl reminiscent of a KFC meal. While it was a solid dish, it didn't quite stand out as anything remarkable. On the other hand, I ordered the bangers and mash, a classic choice showcasing traditional British fare. This turned out to be an excellent decision, as it ticked all the boxes for what one looks for in British comfort food—flavorful, savory, and wonderfully hearty. I often find it difficult to rave about English cuisine, but if you're seeking great homestyle UK cooking, this place is a solid choice. We would definitely consider it a great spot to sit down, watch a football game, and enjoy a good meal. Give it a try!
The service was lacking. The menu items were often unavailable. However, the chef's skills were quite impressive.
I really enjoyed the fish fry on Friday. The atmosphere is great with two levels. They could definitely improve their tap selection to offer some authentic English ales. The service was very good as well.
We visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon, and the food and hospitality were exceptional. The appetizers we ordered, including scotch eggs and sausage rolls, were so delicious and satisfying that we barely had any room left for our main course. We shared the cottage pie, which was flavorful and the perfect conclusion to our meal. The drink selection was a refreshing change compared to most places. I highly recommend Red Lion, but make sure to check if there's a football game scheduled, as it can get quite crowded. We tried to return the following weekend, but there were no tables available. We definitely plan to come back!
I travel frequently across the USA and often seek out good British pubs, which can be hard to find. The Red Lion truly delivers. It’s probably the best place I've discovered for authentic British food—everything I tried was excellent. They also have a wonderful selection of beer. I enjoyed a couple of pints of Old Speckled Hen, a fine ale, that was superb! As for the pasty? Absolutely delightful! The general manager recommended a dish that was rich and satisfying, and it did not disappoint. I’d rate this place a solid 10 out of 10 and would highly recommend it!
