Shawarma Town - Milton

Fancied some middle eastern ever since I passed by this place.

Reason for the 2 Stars? The portion sizes it's really a 2.3 out of 5, in terms of quality.

Mom and Pop place friendly, their kids run around and help out. Personally find any claims to having the best of anything distasteful especially given that it is an opinion that has not been backed up. Seems like they get their shawarma from the same...More

Checked this place out today after reading other positive reviews. Service was fast and friendly and the restaurant was very clean and bright. We ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich, gyro wrap, chicken shawarma on a plate (both large and small) and it came out to under $30. Portions on the plate were quite generous but the sandwiches were a little smaller in comparison to what you might get at Osmow's or even Pita Nutso. I had high hopes in that Shawarma Town is not a chain Lebanese-Canadian restaurant like the aforementioned ones, but rather a mom and pop joint. The food was pretty bland tasting and was probably adjusted in order to be more palatable to Milton tastebuds. I also found it strange that they pre-shaved the chicken off of the skewer/spit and just leave it in a warmer rather than cut to order when the customer comes in. The chicken plates we ordered came with a chickpea salad (not hummus - but actual full chickpeas) which was tasty and different from what you might normally get at a fast food shawarma place. If a chickpea salad doesn't quite cut it for you, you could also choose either coleslaw or Greek salad. Overall, decent but I don't know if it is deserving of the title of "best Shawarma in town" (which isn't that big of an accomplishment in Milton when there are only a handful of shawarma places to begin with). In fact, if Lazeez opens up a franchise as advertised, in the plaza directly across the street, these guys maybe in some trouble!
