Miyabi - Milano

Milan is associated with fine Italian food, but after about 5 nights in Italy, we were longing for a change. Chinese or Japanese? Both were located within 100m of our hotel. We opted for Japanese. Miyabi was selected. Great choice. This place was buzzing. It was full. Service was prompt. The food was very good. It exceeded our expectations, so the next day, after trawling the streets, shopping bags in hand, we returned for dinner again.

Service was average. Ordered the chef tasting menu €45/pax), we had to guess what each dish was as the waiters just put the plate down and quickly left for every single dish. Fish was fresh but too salty and not representative of the 'lightness ' and 'freshness ' of Japanese cuisine. The reason for this was that many dishes are literally soaked into a combination of soy sauce and sesame oil. It doesn 't not matter how fresh or high quality the ingredients are if all I can taste is soy sauce and sesame oil which literally overpowers the fish. Even the salad was overseasoned and too salty. Don 't be fooled by the numerous positive reviews on Google. I am not sure if many of them have even tried proper Japanese cuisine because I can almost guarantee you that you will rarely find not in a good way) what is served here elsewhere.

Best sushi I’ve eaten and it felt like I’m back in Japan. Each of the sushi is the right size the raw fishes are very fresh! Friendly staff and fast service. Definitely a must eat when in Milan.

Went there as a family of 4. Food was okay but we prepare better Japanese food at home with better ingredients. The only reson we went there was for convenience because our hotel (Indigo Monforte is located across the street. No soup udon and all other Japanese noodle dishes are dry. The only soup they have is a cup of miso! Prices are not cheapneither. The two stars given above is fot the working people at this place (especially the Bengali and the tattooed Italian servers . The Japanese lady (manager or owner was very rude who spoke good English in the begining and pretended not to speak any later! We don't recommend this place and it's placed on our avoid list!

We came back twice. The owner is very nice and welcoming. Very good sushi and fair prices. It’s very cozy and can be perfect for dates.
