The Big Fish - Mijas

We ate here with friends for the first time a few days ago, and we were certainly not disappointed. It was clean, the service was excellent, the staff friendly and courteous and the food first class. Freshly cooked, the fish was in a beautiful thin and crispy dough, homemade chips with mushy peas. We ordered drinks and bread and butter to complete our order. We all really enjoyed our meals.

I ordered a latge cod chips €12.50, my partner ordered a large haddock. We both felt that the food was underwhelming. My cod was of a reasonable size, my partners haddock not so, it was a medium size at best and he wasn't happy at all about it. Both fish were nicely cooked with crispy batter finished off with a lemon slice, but my partner I agreed was tasteless. Both portions of chips were fairly generous and looked nice but as another reviewer points out were dry, like they had been reheated, but I don't think that was the case. We had a side of mushy peas which at €2 we felt were a bit overpriced. A nice touch though was prooer heinz ketchup on the tables, The staff were friendly efficent, the restaurant clean hygienic but we won't rush back again as we both felt that our meal was underwhelming wasn't worth the effort of going out of our way for.
