Przekaż informację zwrotnąIf you're celiac, gluten intolerant, or have a gluten allergy, get yourself to Mexico City a.s.a.p.!! We discovered the most amazing little gluten-free bakery, which calls itself Energuia, at Rio Hondo 307 in Lomas Virreyes, just around the corner from the Soriana supermarket. Finding good baking that doesn't have traces of gluten can be a challenge when travelling, even in Mexico where corn-based everything is readily available. This place has several kinds of bread, scones, buns and pastries, including brownies to die for, all made on site in this dedicated gluten-free facility. And the charming proprietress is so enthusiastic, you'll be hooked before you even finish the samples she offers you.
Who knew that the best gluten free scones and bagels I have ever found would be tucked away in the ritzy Mexico City neighborhood of Las Lomas de Chapultepec? Now true confessions, I bought an extra suitcase and loaded up to take home for my gluten allergic daughter in Boston. Nobody tell Homeland Security!!!She is really enjoying the vegetable-based pastas, the individual pizza crusts, but above all...those scones are to die for.
It's a bit hard to get to on public transport and I ended up directing a taxi there. There was a small selection with also some dairy free and egg free products. Nothing had ingredient lists but they will hopefully start putting them on. Bread still needs toasting, the pasta held its shape well, still have some treats to try. Really nice owner just wish it had a cafe!
