El Rey Del Suadero - Miguel Hidalgo

My husband saw this place on a reality show that he watches and I went along for the ride to check out the eats. We are from Texas and Tex Mex is like the state food, if that 's a thing. He always advises me on the elements of an authentic taco I push back and always remind him that whatever tastes the best, is authentically good to my taste buds. From the outside, the location is very unassuming especially as you walk past the spit with roasting meat turns in the window for all of the meat lovers to see. There were only about four tables occupied when we arrived and we were seated in the back of the restaurant in a reclaimed open air courtyard. We ended up ordering three different tacos pastor, bistec and the suadero, along with the queso fundido. Every single one was amazing and I was very impressed by the house salsa. It was very tasty and spicy, as I like it. I think I overdid it on the salsa and I paid for it the next day (draw a picture for yourself lol). The service was a little slow and spotty when we were ordering, the server took my husband 's order then walked away from the table without taking my order. Sorta a what just happened? moment. We flagged her down again and finished the order. It also took way longer for the food to be served, considering so few tables were occupied. I was tempted to give a 4 star rating but because of the quality of the food, I just rounded up to a 5. Kudos.

We went in with very high expectations due to the reviews and of course, the name. We tried several different tacos and none were good. The only one we kinda like was the pastor one. Service was quick
