El Carretonero Mexican - Midland

I got the “carne asada” meal for $18 , was scrapping the plate trying to cut my thin overcooked piece of steak that had no flavor and the portion of rice was as thin as the steak spread out on the plate , best I can say was they had fresh vegetables .

Food was not very tasty. Fried ice cream could be better and the shell tasted like it was stale.

The food service were top notch, but... the atmosphere is showing its age. That is fine actually gives it a kind of charm, but the lack of a deep cleaning really distracts me from what would otherwise have been a great experience. The bathrooms, hallway leading to the bathrooms dusty overhead light fixtures are what stood out the most to me things like that make me wonder if the kitchen has the same lack of attention. The food was wonderful well priced, but I highly recommend they address these easily remedied solutions.

Very friendly service however the food was very bland. You would expect some spices in Mexican food but all the items were missing flavor. The enchiladas sauce tasted more like tomato sauce than enchilada sauce and the ground meat had no flavor at all. Sorry but the food needs some spices

The meat had no flavor and the sauce on the enchiladas was just tomatoes sauce, no flavor. The California burrito was suppose to have chorizo in it and it was no where to be found. The salsa that you get with the chips was just plain jar salsa. No flavor. Glad we won't be visiting again as we are from out of town. So disappointed we chose that place as dinner.
