My friend and I had a lovely time in the hotel and really enjoyed the Spa, but when we went for our evening meal it was a bit of a let down. The food looked okay and the staff were really nice, but the food was tasteless. I didn't enjoy it at all. I won't visit again.
Love the feel of this place, staff very friendly. The presentation of the food was outstanding and tasted as good as it looked, the scallops were delicious and well cooked. The duck was cooked to perfection and well presented and the accompiments were well suited to the meal. Service was well timed, didn't feel rushed. The wine was reasonably priced.
Lovely overall dinning for a special occasion. Service was outstanding and had a knowledge of wines they were serving.
Very disappointed! My Wife and I were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary. I chose The Anise restaurant hoping it was somewhere special. To start with we were the only ones in the restaurant, always a bad sign, especially on a Friday evening! The waitress was very nice and very polite, but we were welcomed with the news there aren 't any scallops this evening ! That 's 20% of the starters not available, as there is only a choice of 5! The food was cold (starter and Main courses), which we couldn 't work out why, as they were not busy. The hotel has two restaurants, the Anise and the Bay Tree which is the more casual restaurant. We were halfway through our meal in the empty restaurant, when the waiting staff came in, pushed several tables together and used part of this room as an overflow from the other restaurant. What ambiance there was, had just been blown away. Will not be going back, unless they change their ways.
I’m a huge fan of Vivek Singh, a chef who has helped elevate Indian cuisine away from the old pot” curry houses of the and and into fine dining. The Cinnamon Club is a favourite of mine for a special treat, and it always meets expectations. But there is no getting around the fact that you pay for the quality, the decor, and the location. Cinnamon Kitchen in Devonshire Square, a short stroll from Liverpool Street, has often been called the Cinnamon Club’s younger and cooler sister.
