I suspect that it was all frozen because the coating kept falling off. The chips were mostly scraps and bits, and even the mushy peas were made of garden peas with an unusually light and dusty texture. Overall, I was very disappointed with my meal.
This is a wonderful traditional pub in a thatched 16thC building. No bar, just a tap room serving fine local ales from the cask. High backed settles, beams, uneven floors. And a lovely garden for summer. The menu is outstanding and often features venison.
Fantastic place, we stayed in one of the rooms which was fab. Breakfast is A1. The stand out dinner was beef brisket…superb. Will definitely return.
We visited on a Wednesday evening and were really impressed. The restaurant was busy so we were glad that we’d booked. Lovely staff, local ales and food. We had 3 courses and really enjoyed all of them! Lots of choice too! Would recommend.
Dropped in for a drink with friends on our way home close by. Ordered 1 soft drink and 2 1/2 pints of beer. 1 pint was totally flat and the 2nd pint didn’t taste right. Both were taken back to the bar area and explanation given to the staff as to what was wrong with the beer. 1 pint was replaced. We then had to wait some time before someone came out and rather abruptly said she wasn’t going to replace the 2nd as she felt there was nothing wrong with it. We were made to feel like we were an inconvenience to her and didn’t care about what we thought. Very poor customer service and relations. With that, we left our drinks and left. As another customer had said in a review, there are other better pubs around. Would never darken there doors again!
