This restaurant is a fantastic discovery. It's a wonderful place to visit. As soon as you step inside, you can feel the charming ambiance. It's a truly authentic local spot at the center of the village. We're grateful for our stay here and the food was excellent.
I celebrated a friend's birthday dinner at this restaurant last night with a group of 12 people. Despite the fact that all the other guests were locals, the owner seemed indifferent to our experience. We waited for over an hour for our starters, and then our main course orders were mixed up. Some of the members of our party had finished their meals before others even received theirs. When my meal finally arrived, the fish tasted like it had been taken from a local cat, quickly battered and fried. The peas were cold, and the chips seemed to be store-bought. The owner of the restaurant did not offer any apologies for the poor service, and when we asked for a discount on the bill, we were only offered a free bottle of wine for the whole group or £10 off the bill. Despite the lack of business, as there were only 4 other patrons in the restaurant during our visit, the service was disorganized from the moment we placed our orders.
This is a genuine 'village local ' inasmuch as it appears to be independently owned and operated. There are ancient rusted-on locals propping up the bar which was entertaining. Great atmosphere, plenty of choice in food and drink. Happy to return, or should that read ... HOPE to return.
Popped in here for a meal. The locals were all very welcoming friendly as were the staff. Food was cooked fresh and was delicious. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend the Baileys Brulee.
