We went to Afterglo for my birthday and had a great time. I enjoy raw food and they do it right, taking the utmost care with preparation. Most of my family ate fish, but they were tantalized by my raw dishes. The wait staffs were knowledgeable and pleasant and added to the experience. While the bill was somewhat pricey (for this guy who prepares most of his own food), it makes for a great place to go for a special occasion. Parking was not easy given South Beach but we arrived in three cars and all made it on time.
If you like exotic, unusual and organic, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a more familiar fare, you won't like it. Many things on the menu I haven't even heard of. My husband had the steak. It was grass fed, Australian beef. He said it was spongy and flavorless. I had salad and pasta that was fabulous. It was fun and different and I loved my food, but we probably won't go back.
A truly unique dining experience, it seems that no detail, however small, is spared when it comes to the service and knowledge of ingredients (and an eccentric set of ingredients they are). The quality the food being served is absolutely outstanding to say the least. If you're looking for something different, would like to impress someone you are taking out, or just want to feel good, Afterglo is a sure bet!
