Despite being familiar with this type of cuisine, we stuck to ordering familiar dishes like xiao long bao, hakaw, and braised beef in noodle soup. The food was delicious and consistent, typical of this kind of restaurant. I highly recommend trying it out, especially considering the reasonable prices.
I had lunch today at a spacious and clean restaurant. The server was efficient and the prices were reasonable. The meal was delicious, with simple, home-cooked style dishes served in a beautiful and quiet atmosphere. It was a nice find for a spur-of-the-moment meal.
We decided to have lunch at Shi Lin, a restaurant known for its xiao long bao made in an open kitchen. I noticed that they had reduced their open kitchen staff from six to just two. I ordered the shrimp fried rice and the chili garlic green beans, which were tasty and satisfying. The rice had just the right amount of shrimp, and the veggie dumplings were packed with garlic, which I enjoyed. I requested more chili garlic oil to pour over the dumplings, as they were quite strong in flavor. I ended up having to order a soda to balance out the intense taste. The service was attentive, but the price was slightly higher than average for a single meal.
Shi Lin is an acquired taste. You won't immediately like it, but they grow on you. The Place The BGC branch consists of two floors. Spacious and well-maintained. They also have a clean CR. The Food The servings are generous, a dish is good...for two people, or one very hungry person. We ordered: Crispy Mantou Bread with Condensed Milk this is addicting. Simple, yet delicious. Fried Rice with Shredded Pork and Egg now this is huge, but really tasty. You can't imagine finishing the bowl, but when you take your last spoonful, you'd realize that you did, all by yourself. It's that good. We'd love to go back soon.
Another disappointing Chinese food experience in BGC. Most of the eight dishes we ordered were either poorly prepared, oily or both. Only the noodles with double-boiled beef soup was pleasant. The wine selection was a ONE chilled red and no white. The kitchen can be...viewed though surrounding plate glass; unfortunate when the floor is dirty and the cooks rather less than immaculate.
