Portugalles - Merthyr Tydfil

I visited this restaurant for the fourth time. There was a large international group ahead of us, so there was a bit of a wait for our food. However, the lively atmosphere made up for it. The clams, cod, and chicken were delicious, and the owner was friendly and funny. It's a great value for money and a fantastic option for authentic Portuguese food in Merthyr. If you haven't been, I highly recommend giving it a try – you won't be disappointed!

I went to this restaurant with three friends to celebrate my friend's birthday and we had an amazing time. Fernardo, our server, took great care of us and even surprised us with a delicious piece of cake and a birthday song. It was a very thoughtful gesture. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back.

We decided to go out for a surprise lunch on Mother's Day, and were welcomed with great hospitality and excellent service at Portugalles. The food was freshly prepared, with a fantastic selection of starters, mains, and delicious desserts at very reasonable prices. The restaurant often offers free entertainment and is a wonderful place to celebrate with friends, as a couple, or with family. Catherine and Fernando are incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure each guest feels taken care of. It's a lovely spot to enjoy a coffee, snack, or cake as well.

Been coming here now a little while and initially I came alone or with the wife but now I am not allowed to come unless my daughters come too. The place is so welcoming and the food is fantastic. It is great to be able to have little restaurants such as this so close to home (I can walk home after a drink) and have such good quality food. Sagres is nice too.

We went for lunch on 24th of December around 12pm, the place was empty so I asked to the lady (owner? if they were serving food, which she promptly said to look at the menu that she would ask the cooker. We sat down and looked over the menu. After 5 minutes she came to us but we hadn't decided what to have so she left. It took her another 20 minutes to come back and she was visibly distressed and told us that they were very busy that afternoon and we would have to wait a long time for the food to be ready. My girlfriend asked if she wanted us to leave but she said no. We started asking for food (breakfast rolls and she looked very annoyed at this point but took our order anyway. My girlfriend asked if we would have to wait long for the food since we were only having some rolls and the lady said yes, because they were very busy getting ready for dinner. So we decided to leave. My point is she should've told us since the beginning that they were unable to serve food at that time because they were busy preparing for the afternoon.
