The Galice Store - Merlin

I have been enjoying dining, drinking, listening to music, rafting, and fishing at Galice for over 30 years, and it just keeps getting better. They truly make everyone feel like family.

After a long drive, I was disappointed to discover that the burger and Coors Light were just mediocre. The basic burger is priced at $10.95, and adding cheese will set you back an additional $2.00. If you want fries, that's another $2.50. A 16 oz Coors Light costs $5.00. In total, the bill for two people amounted to $40.90, excluding tip. I won't even bring up the slow service.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Galice Resort today. The food was exceptional, particularly the hamburgers and fries, which were fantastic. The service was remarkable, and the view was simply stunning. We left just before the band started playing. It's truly a special place to enjoy a meal.

Overall, it's a fantastic destination for families, friends, couples, or even solo adventurers. My family and I made reservations for this weekend to rent two single kayaks and one large raft. Upon arrival, we found they were overbooked but were given the option of individual kayaks or an extra-large raft. We chose to go with two large rafts, and they generously provided one of them for free. The staff shuttled us to the drop-off area and were incredibly helpful and friendly, ensuring we had an amazing experience. After our rafting adventure, we enjoyed live music and delicious food on their patio, served by our wonderful waitress!

On my last breakfast visit, I was taken aback by the minuscule portion of home fries—I've never encountered such a small serving anywhere, and they were excessively salted. The resort does offer a shuttle service, but be wary! While your vehicle might make it to Foster Bar without any issues, it’s not something I would rely on. The last time I used their shuttle, the driver damaged my trailer and left it stranded on a dirt road, accompanied by a note that didn’t even identify the location. I managed to find my trailer the next day and, with some help, was able to get it back on the road. When I contacted the resort to ask about the trailer's whereabouts, they were clueless and offered no apologies. Since that incident, I’ve heard numerous horror stories about their shuttle service. One friend of mine arrived at Foster Bar only to discover his truck was missing. When he reached out to the resort, they casually responded, "Oh, that's what these keys are for," revealing they had forgotten to shuttle his vehicle. They offered to bring it over, but it would take several hours. My friend ended up loading his raft and gear onto another boat/trailer to return to Galice. He likely would have preferred to go through Powers, but they needed to retrieve his rig. The resort never apologized or issued him a refund, despite their failure to shuttle his truck! Fortunately, he paid with a credit card, allowing him to dispute the charge and get his money back. In summary, I would strongly recommend against using their services. You might wonder why I rated them higher than one star. Honestly, I can’t provide a solid reason. Perhaps it’s because they used to offer better service, and part of me wants to believe they can improve in the future. But for now, it's a definitive no from me!
