Lo Que Hay Cafe - Mérida

Lo Que Hay is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant located inside the Media Mundo Hotel close to the historic centre in Merida. To enter, you have to ring the bell on the door and somebody will let you in and show you to the restaurant....I visited here for lunch during my stay in Merida. It can be difficult to find plant based food in Mexico so I was pleased to discover this place. Their lunch menu featured limited options, and I had been going to have the themed meal. I had read online that there is a set menu with a different cuisine theme every day, but I guess this only applies to dinner (which I believe is only available starting at pm) and not lunch, which was not made completely clear online or on the restaurant’s Facebook page. I ended up ordering the guacamole and the enchiladas. Everything tasted really good, though the portions were quite small. I also had the tamarind juice, which I wasn’t a huge fan of, as it was not sweetened at all (unlike the tamarind juices I have tried elsewhere in Mexico). The prices of the food were excellent! The tables were situated in a beautiful courtyard around a pool and with lots of tropical plants around. It was very pretty! The atmosphere was peaceful and I was one of the only people there at the time. The service was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed finding a veggie friendly restaurant in Merida but wished they had offered the themed meal at lunch as well!

Great vegn prix fixe dinners (or a la carte), delicious and inventive, a beautiful poolside dining experience. The food is always excellent and the service likewise. Lovely little gift shop inside the hotel as well. Just a great experience every time I come to...Mérida.

LoQueHay was such a breath of fresh air after traveling throughout Mexico for several weeks. They do serve vegan versions of Mexican classics some nights, which was delightful, but they also serve a wide variety of foods and do it well make sure to...check their Facebook page for the daily dinner menu (which we found was usually served the next day for lunch as well). We ate three meals here because we couldn't get enough and we want to try as much of their variety as we could. My meat-eating friends also very much enjoyed LoQueHay. The ambience is absolutely lovely, and the prices are GREAT. This place is seriously such a value for such good and food made with care.

Found by accident and enjoyed thoroughly! Very good and interesting food prepared with attention to detail and served in timely manner. Dining by candle lights next to the fountain was a beautiful experience and we would repeat it anytime!

I had been wanting to visit this restaurant for quite some time. Finally after four attempts we went - and I am so glad we made it. There is a "set menu" each night which is various ethnic dishes. Each night you can also select from local dishes, but the set menu is so much better for the price. We went the night that Greek Food was the set menu, and it was so delicious - and the chocolate mousse was EXCELLENT. The restaurant is inside the Hotel MedioMundo which is slightly off the beaten path withing the Centro Area of Merida. But please make the trek to this restaurant - you will not be disappointed.
