I sat inside, but there were wonderful putdoor seats with heat lamps and very cute, romantic even, tables for two. I didn't make any pictures of it, but my word was very beautiful!
Great tasting food and excellent service, I highly recommend it.
I loved this place that I had come to this restaurant since 2011 and still one of my favorites
I recently at Flea Street Cafe in Menlo Park. It has been many years since I last had eaten there (before pandemic) and was looking forward to a good meal, as my experience in the past was very good in this restaurant. I had previously appreciated the quality of food and attention to detail in each of the preparations. This time I was very disappointed. I had the Ciopinno dish in hope of a wonderful fish stew full of delicious shellfish. The problem with the shell was that the shells, which were an important part of the shell, were all still full of sand, which led to a gritty sensation in my mouth, which did not leave. It was not just a shell, but all 5 or 6 of the shells. When did the waiter ask? How was the food? I told him I was surprised to have sand in the shells. He said I'm gonna tell the chef about it?. But there was nothing about the court I ordered and I got no answer from the cook. On the way out, the waiter said he had a small discount from my bill. In most other restaurants they will try to do something to correct the dish they have served, and do not expect the customer to accept it. I have eaten shells in many restaurants and never had the experience of having sand left in the shells. With the reputation of this restaurant, I would have expected the cook to ensure that the shellfish were properly rinsed and cleaned before cooking and serving. I hope that next time more attention will be given to the preparation of this plate to ensure that quality remains and other customers do not have the same experience as I have.
Updated: Dined outside on the patio. Got the $40 Vegetarian Tasting menu, Basil Squash soup and Panna Cotta. Everything was stellar, you can really taste the freshness in the veggies. Very satisfying and well balanced. One of the best meals I've had in the Bay Area this year! Love the Cal-Italian emphasis on fresh, sustainable ingredients. You can really taste the freshness. Definitely off the beaten path, not close to the 101, but well worth it. I got takeout and smelled the garlicky Wild Mushroom Risotto all the way home. Great taste and very filling. Also got the Black cod. The fish was cooked perfectly, soft and delicious. Plus the vegetables that came with the fish were very not overcooked and not the usual side veggies. Nice. Also got the pumpkin cheesecake, also fantastic. And the bread and scones were great as well as the sweet bread for the desert. Well rounded meal, every dish delicious. Highly recommend.
