Shang Hai - Memphis

This is a really good place to eat delicious Vietnamese food.. For awhile I ate at pho vietnam because I was new to the Memphis area.. I made some friends who were from here and brought me to Shanghai .. This place have better pork chops.. Soo juicy compared to pho Vietnam.. ' dont judge a book by its cover ' Their special plates are AWESOME! people at shanghai are nice as well.. If you want delicious flavored food come here! I hope you enjoy the food :D

Great thai at this chinese place. Was expecting the thai food to be just ok at this mostly chinese restaurant, but it was better than alot of thai places around, great prices and portions, I'll be back to try the chinese and vietnamese dishes. Neat atmosphere too, painted ceiling and dragons everywhere

Better Than Penicillin. Their Hot and sour Soup is better than Penicillin for a cold. I love that stuff. The egg rolls are to die for as well. Just wished the crab wonton had some real crab in them, but, you can't have it all. They are still crispy sweet and creamy.

On a recent lunch date with my wife and son my wife suggested we try Shang Hai. It is right across the street from my favorite Vietnamese joint. (Pho Vietnam) I had seen the place many times but had never had the pleasure of stopping in. She doesn't work very far from there and she had been quite a few times. I'm not sure at all what the building used to be. It looks like the Starbucks on Poplar/White Station used to look before they remodeled. I'm sure someone out there could help me with that as it was most likely a chain location. Anyway, back to my story.

Not much to look at on the outside.... But the interior is beautifully decorated. You can tell that the family who runs this restaurant puts a lot of time and effort into making it look nice. And the food is good and well-priced. It's not the fanciest place in the world, but it's worth a try. My personal favorite is the Thai catfish dish, but the lunch specials never disappoint. Easily one of the top Viet places in town.
