River Oaks - Memphis

I gave this restaurant three chances because my friends spoke highly of it. Unfortunately, that's three strikes, and it's out for me. I don't understand how you can serve such a small strip steak (maybe 6 oz) drenched in watery gravy, completely overcooked, and still charge prices akin to Flemings or Ruth's Chris. Our dinner for five exceeded $350, and that was without desserts. We started with their Beignets, as recommended by the waitress, which turned out to be bland and tasteless. The steak was a complete letdown, and everything from the bar was ridiculously overpriced. The wine prices were laughable. I just can’t grasp why this place is so popular.

As anticipated, Chef José's cuisine was exceptional, and the restaurant's atmosphere was just right. When we arrived, the place was nearly at capacity, but despite the crowd, once we were seated, it felt like we had our own little oasis. I can't wait to return!

We celebrated our daughter's high school graduation at this restaurant, and it was a wonderful experience. Our server, Mary Beth, was attentive, cheerful, and incredibly helpful. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. Since we were a party of nine, they seated us in a quieter alcove, which was perfect. I would return in a heartbeat!
