We had the Agua de tamarindo to drink, it was like a mix of real tamarindo with powder mix but it wasn't band, it would have been nicer if they had real tamarindo though. they give big portions so is worth paying for a meal there. we want to go back for the pollo asado next time!!!
I was really impressed by this little place. It's a dive but I don't care. I like dives. It's the food that counts and they really delivered on taste and freshness.Fresh chips were served right away with three sauces. All of which were very good. We ordered way too much food but being our first visit we got carried away. Guacamole, I loved it, dining companion liked it. She is not a fan of cilantro but said it wasn't overpowering. Avocado, sour cream ? and cilantro. So fresh, creamy and delicious. Queso fundido con rajas melted cheese with jalapeno. Companion liked it, me , not so much. For entrees I had Pirrillada. A mixed grill of steak, pork, pulled chicken, chorizo and onion served on a sizzling skillet. This dish blew any fajitas platter I've ever been served out of the water. Plenty enough for two. Companion had a torta asada. This sandwich could easily feed two. It was huge and she reported it to be delicious and it looked so good. Prices are very reasonable.Yes, we'll be back but wise enough to share next time.Update: A return visit and just as satisfied as our first. Tip, the above menu posted on Zomato is outdated. You can't go by it. Many items are no longer available.
Los Picosos. Stopped by for lunch a few times. I've always been happy with the food but one time I ordered the chorizo burrito as it was closer to brunch time, and it may be one of the best things I've ever had. Sometimes I dream about it.
If your feeling brave and you want an authentic Mexican experience then try Los Picosos on Summer Ave. When you drive up you'll see a lot of smoke coming from the back, you'll wonder what they are cooking. It took me a while to figure it out. They are grilling up some delicious chicken, but only on the weekends. Now they marinade the chicken, chop it into large pieces and serve it with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas. This chicken looks like it just got off the expressway from Flavorville. It is not too expensive and is a major treat. I love the smokey taste and the tender juicy meat. It is a must try. They give you chips and 3 flavors of salsa. It can be tons of fun to mix them and great a unique blend. The other menu item we enjoy is the Chori Queso- a hot plate of melted cheese with chorizo mixed in. They line the skillet with tortillas so the cheese does not burn and it is a really big dish. I know it is probably a heart attack on a plate but it is well worth the risk. I have
