We were told that this was the place to eat in the region. ok, it is the place for busloads of tourists! the waitresses were very friendly and efficient, but there were probably not enough staff in his kitchen to handle all the people. Although it was a Tuesday afternoon and despite the waitress who quickly took our orders, it took an old one before we got to eat. When our main course finally arrived, my heart was very fat and not very warm.
We love the ambience of the hotel and restaurant, the food is very good, friendly service and nice things to buy in the shop. We always go to the restaurant in the main building, not into to the glass-addition where they cater more for large...groups or tourists who want a quick and reasonably priced meal. A bit odd is that you have to pay 2 euros to get on the premises. They probably felt the need to introduce this policy because too many people just wandered around and did not spend any money. You get a voucher for it but still it is unusual to do that. But we still visit the restaurant every time when we are in the area.
This place is much too large to be liked. They are organized to receive large parties that arrive by bus but for the individual traveller this is not an ideal place. Food is simple but ok.
Located in peaceful rural area this place is very interesting and full of history. We ate in the restaurant it was very good. The goolash was excellent. The menu is very traditional and the food generally looked very good indeed. They also brew their own...beer. It would certainly be a good place to stay if you are touring the area.
