Was eating breakfast at Nellie's and was going to get drinks at Highland afterward, but the owner decided to tell us if we were at Nellie's, they were going to tow my car. So, since you practice pettiness, we will never visit your establishment based on your poor attitude toward your neighbors.
We went there a few months ago ready to watch a game and eat some appetizers. We had to ask to get one of the TVs turned on to the basketball game. It’s obvious the owner doesn’t want the sports bar crowd, but still surprising that no TVs were turned to any sports. The apps were bland, definitely not made fresh. Get some better food and cater more to sports fans and you could have a successful place. It’ll be hard to compete against the new place next door unless you do something different. North siders really want the Highland Inn to succeed.
They had a couple of issues that were most probably beyond their control. Soft drinks not available due to issue with carbonation and no diet in cans. My grilled tenderloin sandwich was tough beyond chewing. It's understandable since there's no way to know tenderness before cooking.Other 3 people were very pleased with burger, club fried bologna sandwich. Would definitely give it another try.
Sadly, the service tonight was horrible. The server seemed out of sorts and unable to handle her job. We waited 1 hour to get our food. This is the first time we’ve experienced this. It was obvious the owner was absent. She always steps up to the plate. Other customers had to wait as well with mistakes on orders. It created an awkward experience for everyone. The bartender helped some and saw what was going. Our server was spending time talking to patrons at the bar as we waited way too long to get our drinks. The food was great once we got it.
