Unfortunately, the Pad Thai was quite average; I didn't enjoy it much. The peanuts tasted stale, and the overall flavor was a bit bland for my taste. However, the Shrimp Katsu was better. Perhaps dining in would offer a better experience.
I visited this restaurant for the first time, eager to try ja jang myeon, and it definitely lived up to my expectations! My boyfriend ordered a Korean dish along with the fried octopus balls, and everything was incredibly delicious! As a fan of Asian cuisine, I was thrilled to discover this place. The Thai iced tea was fantastic too, and I can't wait to return! The service was excellent as well.
I always return here whenever I'm craving Korean dishes because it's incredibly delicious!
This was my first time there and it was great! The service was great and so was the food. I ordered the spicy chicken kbbq and it tasted good. It does say spicy on the menu but when I tasted it, it was more sweet than spicy; no spicy hint to it at all. Even though it was not spicy it was still very delicious, just keep it mind that it may not be spicy when ordering it. Overall everything was great and will definitely go soon!
Updated review 2024: Tried this place again after 6 years. Still can't give it more than 2 stars for food and atmosphere (so loud plus music andTV...really? I can say 5 stars for service, and tempura was very good. Ordered kimche soup, bebimbop, fried rice, salmon sushi, pork belly. Everything is so plain and bland. They must be using a lot of store bought sauces and finished items. Headache inducing levels of MSG. I'd rather order all of these dishes from Lotte Mart in Orlando. With Mingees closed, simply cannot get good Korean food in Melbourne. Will try again in 6 years. Review from 2018: Wait was too long. To be fair there was a help wanted sign in the window. I think they are new and still getting their system worked out. My Kimchee soup was OK, arrived hot and bubbly, but broth was a bit thin, not enough kimchee and too much tofu. Pork bellies were OK, but dipping sauce that came with it had MSG, so either store-bought or the chef is lazy and cheats. The traditional 6 side kimchee garnish plates were disappointingly plain....only one (the actual cabbage kimchee was seasoned well....and one was pinto bean? maybe this is Americanized. Restaurant itself is a rectangular box with bare walls....the acoustics make it very loud. It doesn't help that the clientele in this area are notoriously inconsiderate. We had loud cursing 20-somethings and a screaming toddler. Across the room but seemes right next to us. They should decorate with things to absorb sound and create some sense of privacy. Popular place, lots of people lining up for tables, but there's no place for them to wait except standing behind occupied tables near the door. Not very pleasant for the diner. Average $20 per person. Staff was friendly but shorthanded. I don't know if I would go back here. Mingees is not far, the wait there is also long but the food and atmosphere is better.
