Roast beef from the festive menu, 5 slices of carrots, the hardest roast potatoes and one of the slices of beef was pure gristle and inedible. If we had ordered starters we were told they had to come out with mains. The cod was over done and the burger was cold in the middle. The coffees came out cold which we sent back. The cutlery was useless, knife didn’t cut and looked like it was about 50 years old. No fish fingers. This was 12 noon on weekday. The cranberry juice was like water. The desserts of choc brownie and profiteroles we had were lovely. It has gone down hill since the last time we came. Staff were friendly. Would not recommend eating here but the zoo is great for a couple of hours
Disappointed to find no Sunday dinner on the menu. On arriving told them we had a booking, had to ask where our table was as they didn’t tell us. No one came over to take our order, ordered at the bar. Food ok. Had to move our plates into another table as no one came over to us. No offer of dessert or coffee. Don’t go there if you’re having a family celebration as the staff are extremely rude and clearly don’t want you to have a good time
Lunch in the pub before a visit to the zoo. The food was delicious, hot, well presented and plenty of it. Puddings were the usual type eg. Brownies, Eton mess etc. but, as with the mains, delicious. The service was very good. After we’d eaten we had a walk round the Zoo. The tickets have just been reduced. The kids loved the play area and were delighted to see the animals. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending The Fenn Bell Inn
Really great food here, had a seafood platter was well cooked, all the food was very tasty, nice atmosphere and well kept. Popped in for lunch after a visit to the conservation which is amazing value and worth the visit. Proper litre gem this place.
We visited the zoo today for the first time and what a wonderful experience. At only £5 per person entry it really is value for money, there is just enough to look at plus a few little play area for the children. We didn’t stay for food but next time we definitely will.
