Elkhorn Cafe - Medora

Local style food. Service quality is unpredictable here.

Breakfast was not bad, restaurant was very busy with only one waitress, who was working her butt off and doing a good job, another older woman who was a host or something, was very rude to potential customers who were trying to find a table, and she actually told people to go elsewhere because she couldn't handle it being so busy.

Children have food allergies. Owner would not allow me to bring grain substitute or offer any substitutions and was rude. My kids would provide no additional work for her. Will NOT recommend .

The food was mediocre at best. I attempted to order pancakes, but they were unavailable. We then switched our order to French toast and caramel rolls. After half an hour, our food finally arrived, but we were then informed that they were out of caramel rolls and would need to wait nearly as long for more food. Why not let us know they were out before we ordered? It was frustrating to have to wait again.

This café is just like any other in town, and they don't accept credit cards. As a result, we decided not to dine there. It seems quite unreasonable not to accept cards in a tourist area. This was the second café we encountered that day without card acceptance, so we ultimately decided to move on to the next town to the east. We found an excellent café there that gladly accepted cards.
