La Legumbreria - Medellín

Had a great lunch and even better dinner at this place in Medellin. The dishes are great, the venue cozy and quiet and the service friendly, but professional. If you want to remove fried food and spend some time in one of the safest quarters of Medellin, that's all!

It's a Colombian thing to eat and hang in the malls. Far from attractive this special mall Indiana has several very good restaurants (which are only open for lunch). With some of the parking spaces, not particularly cozy. But La Legumbreria serves high-quality food, and although (or because it has) the menu has limited choices, all dishes are made perfection. When this place is full, there are always the neighboring restaurants that serve equally good food.

We arrived at 12:30 and drove past several restaurants in Indiana Mall and decided to stop this place as other customers eat outside. We were immediately greeted and said that the menu was on the board on the wall. They might have had 8 articles and gave us some bread with roasted eggplants that are so good. We ordered the first article Oktopus and 2 minutes later it was said they no longer have. Then we ordered beer that they do not have pilsen (local beer), but Club Colombia in disposable bottles that taste worse than the club in reusable bottles. 6,000 COP for the local beer club Colombia. Then we ordered what was said to us was a Rib Eye Steak 300 grams for nearly 40,000 COP. Since the Club Colombia tasted bad, we drink 3 Cordilleras, which is also a local beer for 6,500 COP. Steak came and was good, but not brilliant. The best beef is in La Fe in La Parrilla De Pacho, where the price is about 30% less.

I've been a client of this restaurant almost weekly for two years. In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Medellin, it is character a little strange for the usual Colombian, fresh products available for the weekly change of dishes. Some are braces like some English soursages and it is delicious entrecôte but others can disappear for good. It has one of the best wine lists in Medellin with very good prices. So when you come to Medellin, I suggest you try this restaurant.
