If you visit in the evening or on a weekend lunchtime, there’s often a pianist performing, creating a lovely ambiance as you enjoy your meal in a comfortable setting. And don’t overlook the bar, which boasts an impressive cocktail menu worthy of its own hardcover book!
I was disappointed to see that the ‘Elite Greek Street’ attitude is still prevalent in Leeds, particularly at The Living Room, which seems to think it's better than other places. The venue itself is quite nice, and I genuinely enjoyed the food. However, the staff had a demeanor that suggested they felt superior to their roles, which I've experienced on previous visits as well. If pretentious staff don’t bother you (it’s a bit of a pet peeve for me), then I don’t have any major complaints about the place. As I mentioned, the food was good, and it was even better with the 50% discount offered during January.
I have one complaint that I’ve noticed is quite common in many restaurants these days: the absence of vegetables or potatoes served with the main meals. Unfortunately, The Living Room falls into this category as well. They also didn't clarify this during our ordering process, which was a missed opportunity for additional sales. On a positive note, the location is excellent, the decor is cozy, the service is friendly and attentive, and everyone enjoyed their time there.
This restaurant is a good choice for lunch or dinner. The prices are fair for the area, averaging about £25 per person for dinner. I'm particularly fond of the decor upstairs, which creates a dark and intimate ambiance; however, the downstairs can get quite crowded. Additionally, I find the disabled access through the back door somewhat uninviting.
For my main dish, I opted for the burger and chips. It was enjoyable, but I wouldn’t classify it as the best burger I’ve ever tasted. Our waiter was both friendly and knowledgeable, and there was a man playing the piano and singing, which really enhanced the lovely atmosphere. Overall, I would say that The Living Room is an excellent place for a lunch outing with friends!
