Although there is a formal dining room, we sat at the bar and had the pleasure of Bartenders Dusan and Maurizo to take care of us. There was even live music. Assagi has been open for 10 years and has converted her private dining room into a pizzeria only 3 weeks ago. It has a brick pizza oven and they import the tomatoes from Italy (san marzano sul sarno). We had the caprese salad with red and yellow tomatoes, along with the scallops and lenses. It was late, so unfortunately we had no pasta. I look forward to going to dinner again and sitting on the front terrace. Review by Jennifer V-E Johnson
Please go to Assaggi! We had dinner last night in Assaggi and were back with superlatives for food, service, the atmosphere brought us all to Italy and it is so close! The elegant table settings are inviting to transport us to an Italian experience without the effort to get far. The decor is like a jewel box intimate and welcoming with a sparkling that delights. The menu is expansive, the choices to a real treat. The service is attentive, but does not float. The four of us chose different choices pasta, fish, vegetables and each of us thought our choice would be the best. There are only tempting dishes offered. Every time we go, we feel completely transported by our daily routines and are always treated to the best of a culinary experience. Please go and experience the best of Italian cuisine near McLean. Italian and more Italian plus pizza. Friendly and friendly service. A bit expensive, but good quality.
Assaggi Osteria and Pizzeria is our place for large pizza (pizzeria) and very well designed fine Italian cuisine (Osteria). The restaurants are connected, but separated. However, if you sit in the covered courtyard, you can order from both menus. We were on the 7th. July there and took care of our favorite server Aleks. We share the spring salad; my wife had a pizza; and I had the black cod. Their seafood is a joy, as the freshness of fish and shellfish is obvious. Your filet steak entree is from this world. Pasta elements all in-house pasta. For those of you who were there, say maybe 6 years ago and were back from the unfriendly behavior of the co-owner / manager (as we were). They have all new owners and a big manager (Dusan) and a very talented cook.
Absolutely amazing pizza and food, which parents and kids alike enjoy. We've been there several times and rare that we find a place that everyone in the family enjoys eating at. I think one of the benefits is the Pizzeria shares the kitchen with the 5 Star Restaurant under the same roof. Personally I'd say don't miss the brussel sprouts! You'll have a great meal!
