We were here last year and enjoyed the place. we went to lunch today and had an excellent meal served by a very friendly waiter. the background music was very relaxing, not the usual volume of other bars. the view of the sea. for a quiet visit. good prices too.
My wife ordered tuna tacos. she said they're the best they ever cost. for me I ordered mar y tierra, a rindburger with big sharps on the top, simply brilliant. they bring chips and species of salsa a pure creamy color red cabbage, meerrettich, mayo and acid cream excellent)
Barra al Mar is a fairly new beachside restaurant in the gold zone "zona dorada" in Mazatlán. The restaurant is just a bit south of popular Lucky B's and closer to the beach. Between Birra al Mar and the beach itself are two beach volleyball courts, so you may see a game or two. Two of us had seafood lunch - one coconut shrimp (camarones al coco) and one whole fried fish (percado frito entero) - we think it was Pargo. The shrimp were delicious - but did not have the usual accompanying mango sauce etc. The fish was very tasty as well - but the plate was a little bare. I asked for guacamole instead of salad - and they substituted it no problem. Nice place, with a good vibe. Note, we had passed it a few days ago and a band playing there was much too loud for us. Good place for those who like seafood and fish - not much else on the menu.
Our taxi driver asked us to take us to a fish restaurant he liked, and he dropped us here. modestly they are in front of the door, they need to go down a lane to the restaurant. we arrived at a full-time evening tournament where both men and women compete. the location is directly on the beach and was full of customers. beer was cold, and I found my aguachiles after the waiter asked me twice if that was what I wanted to order ( apparently he felt that they were not too hot). service was good, eating was good, price was average. beautiful place to come a dae of the feet.
