Philtons Restaurant - Maylands

The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant is housed in a charming old building located in a delightful suburb, with plenty of parking available.

We had high expectations when we dined at this restaurant, but sadly, we were disappointed. My roast beef was bland, overly thickly sliced, and had an excessive amount of fat and gristle for a restaurant dish. The sides were okay, although the supposed bratkartoffeln were lacking and lacked flavor. On the other hand, my wife's fish dish was cooked perfectly and came with a delicious sauce. Unfortunately, my main course was so disappointing that we decided to skip dessert. This restaurant needs to step up its game in the competitive Adelaide market.

Good food, good service, good prices, lovely old building in a very pleasant suburb, plenty of parking.

Having eaten at this restaurant before we expected better. My roast beef was tastless, sliced far too thick and had too much fat and gristle for a restaurant meal. The accompanying vegetables were adequate though the supposedly roast potatoes were in short supply and only had a mild suntan! On the other hand my wife's whiting was perfectly cooked with a great sauce. So at least one of us was happy. We decided to forgo the desserts after my disappointing main course experience. They need to lift their game a bit in a competitive Adelaide market.

I visited this restaurant a long time ago because a friend who lived in the area preferred watching football at a pub instead of squeezing everyone in.
