Honey Bee Cafe - Mattoon

Had waffles and sausage with coffee. Excellent choice. The coffee was bold and tasted fresh. Waitress was the best and kept the coffee flowing. Prices are fair. I'll definitely go back.

Aside from giving me the wrong dinner once, this place is excellent. Great staff and great food.

I walked in with my baby today after 5 hrs drive, no cash on me, just cards. I was told that internet was down and no EBT can be processed. I was about to drive to atm, but one of the waitresses turned me around and said one of the nice lady customers, paid for my meal. Every staff member is friendly. They are always checking on their customers. The food is great. Their wraps, fish, soups, burgers.. it's all fresh, homemade food. They have the best French fries around.

I'm sure the owners didn't start out wanting to be just like Denny's, but with frozen heat-and-serve entrees off the food service truck and box gravy mixes, so they are. Even the cinnamon roll is a dry, tasteless, bitter pre-made thing covered in icing.
