Josh's Bistro at The Matto - Matraville

The steak night here is insane value!!! Ive been here about 10 times and its always spot on!!! The pub itself is basic but the steak night is incredible.

Very poor experience here .. the manager was rude and I heard her say irish people are all rude as she refused some people whilst I was waiting to get in the que .. not impressed by this behaviour and I will not be returning

Been coming here for over 20 years. Tonight was the worse service ever. Cooks are always friendly but this lady was rude AF and very short with us despite us being the only ones in the bistro. We were a family group of 7 and the only ones there during COVID. Next time get someone else to serve and bring the food out. Besides her, the food is great even though they’ve changed the menu. Sad there’s no more shanks which was our favourite dish. Once again change the front house person because I won’t be recommending this place if she’s still there. I’m big on food and places and if she’s there I think she’ll kill clientele.

Fast courteous service, respectable prices, relaxed atmosphere generous serving sizes of good quality food parking is bit light on though wine serving size was good

Got the scotch steak and fish and chips, the only reason this is getting two stars is because the steak was cooked to perfection. The vinegarette needs throwing out and a new batch needs to be made, strong bitter salty taste to it. Chips were over seasoned, the steak not seasoned at all and the mushroom sauce was basic and more of a gravy sauce you could taste the wine in it but not one mushroom in the sauce, looked like gravy also. The fish and chips, the fish was not fresh at all, tasted as if it's slightly pre cooked after it's battered and then fully cooked to order however it was soggy. I would have brought these issues up if anyone had asked how everything was but no such thing happened. Have been before but highly disappointed and won't be returning again not unless a drastic change.
