At first, when I saw the broken Taco shell on my dad's Taco, I thought this was going to be a bad experience... But In addition to the staff being very friendly, the food turned out to be excellent! as a matter of fact, I have to say it was the best carne asada I've had in a long time, if not ever! I highly recommend this place!Vegetarian options: yesDietary restrictions: yesParking: plenty of parkingKid-friendliness: yesWheelchair accessibility: yes
This is easily the best sit-down Mexican restaurant in Portland. Jalisco style food, great atmosphere, family owned, amazing drinks, always excellent service. One of Portland's best kept secrets.
Ok, so my wife, who is Chinese, and used to work at a Mexican restaurant while she was putting herself through college, LOVES this place. Everything we have ordered here is fantastic even the refried beans and rice, which I usually find quite bland, are actually enjoyable here. We found the staff to be quite friendly as well, always ready to share a smile and a friendly comment as we poured gushing praise on them for the food. This place is so good we went back for a take out order a few days after our first stop here, and food was just as good. I would say the tamale is a must try, I ordered an extra one this time because I knew that I would want one for a leftover tomorrow, and I knew that I wouldn't be able to stop once I started eating the first one. The salsa is quite good too nothing fancy, just nice and fresh with the right hint of spice. When we dined in they gave us a small side dish of bean dip to go along with the standard chips and salsa don't see that often! Cravings satisfied, 5 stars earned.Forgot to mention that the service was extremely fast as well during the evening hours when we dined there both times. We ordered when leaving Port Orchard and the food was easily ready by the time we got to Belfair. When we dined in the food came out super fast too.For takeout we spent around $30 for the Taste of History combo meal with an extra tamale and a side of sour cream. When we dined in it was around $50 for the two of us ordering combo meals that gave us leftovers for a couple more meals.
Hot and spicy deliciousness. Best flautas ever! Everything made my mouth water. Service was impeccable. Server made great recommendations. I’m glad we took them. If you want some great Mexican food, El Sombrero is the place to get it.
