La Taco Cantina - Maryland Heights

Lunch today. Had a chicken and beef taco. Combination plate. Always very good. The salsa and chips we got at the first meal were very good. I also ordered Caso dip.really enjoyed it. The owners came by and imagined themselves. Very friendly, I enjoyed talking to them. I took a piece of cake home that I enjoyed. Even the cake was enough to share. The prices are good. I'm sure you'll go back.

Came for lunch, food was great and so was service! I had Philly taco and fish taco and both were delicious. I’m usually not a huge fan of beans, but these were super flavorful and a real treat. Be back for sure!

Large menu options and large portion sizes. I loved my fajita chicken shell and hubby loved his soft tacos. We loved getting free nacho chips and salsa as starters. They were also delicious. The whole team was very friendly and attentive. Cocktails were also great!

So this place was very interesting. Starting out strong with the raspberry margarita and house made chips and salsa were absolutely delicious, however that didn?t carry through to the other items on the menu. The Mexican rice shocked me the most, white rice, chicken bouillon seasoning with corn mixed in is what we were served. I have never seen Mexican rice not have a red tint to it and I never want to again. The guacamole was average, the ?street corn? was doused in southwest sauce and was awful and our chicken tacos were very bland. I would go back for drinks, chips and salsa but nothing else.

Overall a very pleasurable experience. I'll start with the salsa it wasn't the generic tomato paste most places throw out and call it a salsa. There's has a nice roasted pepper taste, but this will be a first on the hotter variant not being as flavorful it was more heat yes but just as bland. On to the dishes, the barria tacos...what can you say there barria. The sauted peppers were full of flavor and tender. The two side tacos were the nashville Taco which the chicken had a nice crunch but was over powered by the fried pickles, but the asada Taco was exactly as I'd want. And last the grande burrito while not grande was still filling. While not perfect, it was good and we will be going back!
