The serving of salmon on toast not the official name of the dish) was hearty but a little salty, probably because of the over abundance of capers. The toast crusts were almost impossible to cut. I did not want to risk my teeth on it!
Perfect stop for brunch as we charged our EV. Loved the history of this palatial building the evident pride imbued in the custodians of this place. Food offering was perfect. I had a delicious Reuben toasted sandwich Denis had the BIG breakfast!! We rated it our best breakfast so far for 2023
When we got there we were told It’s fully booked. (There were plenty of empty tables) We said we would sit outside on the platform and get takeaway coffees, we were then refused service and were told it would take too long. So very disappointing! We were really looking forward to the heritage and atmosphere of the train station. Especially when you’re trying to support post Covid!!
We had a delightful lunch here from a menu that was like one you’d find in a Melb restaurant!! Service was great from friendly young staff!!
Twice in the last four weeks I’ve eaten here and both times had gnocchi. It is unbeatable. The perfect potato pillows, with burnt butter, crisply fried sage and juicy cherry tomatoes combine to give a perfect Italian experience without the expense of an international flight. Service is great, the railway station intriguing and the trip should be topped off with a visit to the new Central Goldfields Gallery a small architectural triumph.
