Cockys Grill at The Lamington

I did not enjoy my meal at this restaurant, the place looked unwelcoming and dirty, with an uneven floor in some spots. I'm grateful that the following night we went to a different place where the staff were friendly. The bar staff at the previous restaurant were rude, so I won't be returning.

We have been regular patrons of Cockys Grill for the past 6 months since moving to Burrum Heads. Every week, after shopping in Maryborough, we look forward to enjoying lunch at this establishment. The meals we have had in the past have always been exceptional, however, our experience on Monday was disappointing. The quality of our meals was not up to par compared to previous visits. Normally, when we visit on Thursdays, the kitchen is staffed by a couple of guys. This time, however, we noticed that there were 3 women in the kitchen. Unfortunately, the standard of our meals had significantly declined. It is unfortunate to see our favorite restaurant take a turn for the worse. The Coconut Chicken lacked coconut and had oily chunks of schnitzel. My mixed grill was bland. The only saving grace was the chips, which were just as good as always.

After driving 120km north from the city, we were invited to dine at a local restaurant. We had visited before and not much had changed except for the menu. We had a table booked for 6 and were given small cards to track our information in case of illness, along with pencils. The staff member at the counter was very busy but still managed to be efficient and friendly. She even brought me Dijon mustard when I had only asked for regular mustard, apologizing for the mistake. The steak could have been cooked a bit rarer, like I had requested, so next time I will ask for it rare. Overall, the meal was acceptable and priced reasonably, making it worth a visit.

Just a short stroll from our accommodation on a Friday night. Limited choice menu but covered all the essentials fish and salad were fresh and tasty. The stand out was the roast pumpkin, bacon and pine nut salad with a maple dressing. Just beautiful and a generous size. Table Service was friendly and efficient.

When visiting maryborough, you would like to eat at a nice restaurant.. i ordered at 7pm.. by 7.45pm my order was not started.. i cancelled.. it was a simple order 250gram steak (rare), chips and salad... not hard i thought..this is the second time in five years that this has happened.. this time, no excuse, get rid of the chef, as we will go elsewhere.. there are many other places to eat in maryborough, this is not one of them...
